Run, Run as fast as you can...

You can't catch me, I am the gingerbread man!

Ally and I are participating in the ornament swap courtesy of The Crafty Crow. This year's swap theme was fairytales. We decided to make gingerbread ornaments out of cinnamon and applesauce based on the story "The Gingerbread Man" as seen here.
Per the swap rules, we mail an ornament to 5 people and then we will recieve ornaments from 5 people. Ally is very excited to see what everyone else made, and to be honest, I am too!

Cinnamon Applesauce Ornament Recipe
3/4 cup of applesauce
1 container of cinnamon (appx. 4oz.)

Mix together with your hands as it is A LOT of cinnamon that needs to be combined, then you can knead it after the cinnamon is mixed in.

Place a portion of the dough between two sheets of plastic wrap, and roll out. Remove the top plastic and using cookie cutters, cut into desired shapes. You may also use a drinking straw to poke hole for hanging.
Bake at 200 degrees for 2-3 hours until hard. Allow to cool. Then attach ribbon for hanging. I also used puffy white paint to outline them.
I am excited to see what great ideas others came up with!

Awesome! What a clever idea- I had no idea that applesauce could be the base for a gingerbread man.

I FINALLY got to the post office yesterday so you should be getting a little Christmas package in a few days.
