WFMW - Masking Odors of the kid kind!

I thought I'd join in on the "Works for Me Wednesday" where fellow bloggers share their tips. I love this Wednesday tradition and have picked up a ton of great ideas! So enough lurking, it was time for me to jump in! (-;

I babysit so my house is usually abound with "kid" smells...you know the ones, particularly dirty diapers. For the past seven years, I have pretty much babysat infants on a continuous loop. So here is a trick I use particularly when I know company is coming and I want to "freshen" up the air.

I take a coffee mug and fill it half way with water, and then add cinnnamon. Just heat in the microwave till it simmers and your house will smell wonderful. You can add different spices to your liking, I am just partial to cinnamon myself.

Of course on a cold winter day, I am known to simmer cinnamon sticks on the stove, but the above tip works great when someone calls to say they will be right over and time is of the essence!

So this tip works for me...feel free to share your tip over at We Are that Family.

Nice! I never would have thought of that, my house always smells like kids as well so I will have to try this!

We do this too! Except we simmer a pot of water on the stove with the spices. Our house gets really dry in the winter so the boiling water adds needed humidity as well as good smells!

Hi Tonya,
This is Carin at Margaret's Hope Chest, just wanted to thank you for helping us reach our goal of 400 quilts! A child will be blessed through you!

I do the cinnamon thing in the winter....although it doesn't get cold here....but it makes it seem more "wintery" when I do! Thanks for the nice comments on my blog recently. I'm so glad you are sewing more!

Mmm, with fall finally here, I think I'll do this even without the kid smell. (Not that we don't have that kid smell...)

P.S. Saw you recently signed on to "follow" my blog -- when I saw your name, I thought you were my cousin! Same name, or more surprisingly, same *spelling* -- it's not that common, is it? How fun to know TWO "Tonya"s out there...
