Super exciting Saturday..NOT!

Saturday, my stepson had robotics so when we went to pick him up, we decided to head up to the new Walmart Supercenter that is about 45 minutes from our house. We were hopeful that the supermarket part was going to be an answer to our grocery budget...unfortunately we were extremely disappointed.

As large and lovely as it was, the Supercenter was surprisingly overpriced in a lot of areas. We have been to many Supercenters and always found them to be so much cheaper than our local grocery stores so we were really disappointed. Of course, majority of our experiences have been in different parts of the east coast at better economic times so surely that had something to do with it.

Don't get me wrong, some things were indeed cheaper...milk, gravy mixes, baking stuff, etc....but I am not sure that it would be worth the run to get those kinds of savings. Meats were shockingly high, but that didn't stop the meat market from being packed.

And a huge disappointment to me was the lack of a fabric and craft department. I had heard rumblings that Walmart was trying to move away from a fabric and craft department, and I am here to tell you that they have! There was one aisle dedicated to sewing machines, thread, needles, knitting, and that was all that I found. Very disappointing!

After we got home, we got our yard work out of the way. The boys cleaned up all the toilet paper remnants from mischief night and Halloween. We painted a fence, put toys away, did a general clean up. It was such a beautiful day outside, it was great to get some fresh air!

My hubby and I decided to let the kids have a bonfire. A bonfire is such an easy form of entertainment for the kids...they love them...even Ally enjoys sitting roasting her marshmallows.

We let the boys each invite a friend...no surprise Collin chose Sam...Michael unfortunately couldn't get a hold of his friends. He was disappointed, but it was understandable considering the last moment. We'll get one of his friends over here one of these days to enjoy a bonfire soon. Collin, Michael and Sam enjoyed a nice bonfire for quite some time, and then came in to watch a movie.

So that was our super exciting Saturday....yawn, yawn....are you still awake? I know we are that boring!

We were actually so exhausted from Mischief night, the bake sale and Halloween that we were lucky we got that much accomplished.
