Flashback Friday - Our summer vacation to Acadia, Maine!

Friday Flashback - Vacation Memories 2009

Last summer, we were forunate enough to go on vacation to
Acadia, Maine.  The good life is definitely over abundant in beautiful Maine!

Every other year, my parents, my brother's family and our family
embark on a new adventure together.

This is the house we rented about a half hour from Acadia...

A private retreat nestled on a beautiful pond.

We spent our time kayacking and canoeing around the pond...

Exploring Acadia National Park by a horse drawn carriage...

Evening bonfires and nightly kayack trips...
Gorgeous sunsets and beautiful night skies...

Lots of bike riding at Acadia to amazing places...
Dipping our tootsie's in cool spring water after a long bike ride...

But things didn't get really exciting until we starting climbing up the Precipice trail...one of the most treacherous trails in Acadia National Park...

My 13 year old and I decided to climb the mountain, forunately he had already done it earlier in the week with his uncle so under his guidance, we treked on.
Over wood bridges...
On stone steps...

Did I mention that I am afraid of heights?????

But Michael encouraged me to keep moving because it was starting to get dark...

We made it after some treacherous ladder climbing (with missing and bent rungs!)

The views from the top were amazing!!!

And then we started our journey down the mountain,
totally got lost in the dark (we weren't the only ones)
and my hubby had to drive around to find us.
And he didn't even complain about it,
although he said next time, maybe we should carry a map....
which probably wouldn't have been a bad idea. (-:

So this is my summer flashback
because tonight we are suppose to have about two feet of snow....
and although I LOVE snow, I am a little tired of being cold all the time!!!
But at least we are prepared with lots of movies to watch.

Hope everyone has a great and safe weekend!
